Alabama has had a solid second season under head coach Kalen DeBoer, but it may not be enough to make the College Football Playoff.
Georgia beat the Crimson Tide 28-7 in the SEC Championship on Saturday, putting Alabama in a dicey situation ahead of the final bracket reveal. While it was assumed that Alabama would make the Playoff field, the blowout loss to the Bulldogs means the Crimson Tide could instead be going home.
While Alabama hopes its next game will be in the Playoff, it is certainly possible the team will instead play in a non-Playoff bowl game. In that case, there are several possibilities for Alabama's postseason bowl selection.
Here's a breakdown of when Alabama could play next.

If Alabama misses out on the college football playoff, it could play in one of a few bowl games. Some options for the SEC teams not playing in the Playoff include:
- The Cheez-It Citrus Bowl
- The ReliaQuest Bowl
- Duke's Mayo Bowl
- TaxSlayer Gator Bowl
Last year, Alabama played in the ReliaQuest Bowl, knocking that bowl game out of consideration for the Crimson Tide. Additionally, normally, the top SEC team not in the Playoff plays in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.
Alabama last played in the Citrus Bowl in 2020, the Gator Bowl in 1993, and has never played in the Duke's Mayo Bowl.
Of course, if Alabama does make the College Football Playoff, the Crimson Tide will probably play on the road in round one of the tournament.
Is Alabama out of the college football playoff?
Alabama's loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship game puts the team's College Football Playoff status in jeopardy. Instead of earning an automatic bid with an SEC title, the Crimson Tide are now one of several teams fighting for the final few wild card spots.
Other teams besides Alabama who could earn a spot in the field include Notre Dame, Miami, and potentially even Texas.
