Colorado linebacker Mantrez Walker plans to enter the transfer portal, according to On3's Pete Nakos.
Walker came to Colorado as a three-star prospect from Buford (Buford, GA), and was part of loaded 2025 class with fellow Peachtree State native and five-star Julian Lewis. He was No. 913 overall recruit last year, according to the Rivals. He came into Boulder looking to make an immediate impact after a strong spring ball and summer camp.
However, despite all the hype, Walker did not accumulate any statistics with Colorado in 2025 and had very little playing time early. No word on why he was held out of the rotation.
An interesting storyline to Walker's recruitment at Colorado was his family ties to Deion Sanders. According to his CU bio, he lists Jacquees as a family member. The R&B artist is the father of Sanders' grandson, Snow, with his daughter, Deiondra.
Wherever Walker ends up next season, he’ll be looking to see the field with a bigger role. He had several big-time offers when he committed to Colorado and might be looking closer to home.
