Alabama defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. Has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest over the weekend, Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer announced Monday.
Kirkpatrick was arrested Saturday on three counts of reckless endangerment and one count each of attempting to elude and speeding. He was released from the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $1,500 bond, according to a report by the Associated Press.
“Unfortunately, with the information that I have at this time, I talked to Dre, and we need to indefinitely suspend him,” DeBoer said. “He understands there are consequences that come with his actions.”
The former three-star from Gadsden City High School (Alabama), Kirkpatrick has appeared in all eight games this season for the Crimson Tide, mostly on special teams and as a reserve in the secondary. He has nine tackles (one for loss), a forced fumble and pass breakup.
Kirkpatrick is the son of former Alabama standout and NFL veteran Dre Kirkpatrick Sr., who played under Nick Saban from 2009-11 before a nine-year NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals, Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers.
No. 4 Alabama will host LSU on Saturday (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC).
