BYU's AJ Dybantsa tops NIL valuation list, hitting another career milestone image

BYU freshman phenom AJ Dybantsa has taken over the top spot on the national NIL Valuation list this week, marking another milestone in what is already one of the most anticipated debut seasons in college basketball.

According to On3, Dybantsa’s value is set at a staggering $4.4 million, edging out Ohio State star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and moving Texas quarterback Arch Manning to No. 3.

The 6-foot-9 forward enters Saturday's homecoming against UConn as the most marketable athlete in college sports, and by far the highest-valued basketball player. Texas Tech’s JT Toppin is the next hoops name on the list at No. 6 with a $3 million valuation.

Dybantsa’s decision to sign with BYU over Duke, North Carolina and Alabama lead to widespread speculation that NIL opportunities was behind his decision. His rumored deal, which some insiders have suggested could reach as high as $7 million, is believed to be the largest in college basketball history.

But Dybantsa and his advisors insist the decision was about development. Ranked the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2025 at the time of his commitment, Dybantsa said BYU offered the “best development program” for his NBA future under head coach Kevin Young.

Dybantsa hold deals with Nike and Red Bull, further elevating his national profile as he begins what is expected to be a one-year stop before the 2026 NBA Draft.
