The Kansas Jayhawks will remain without Darryn Peterson for at least a little bit longer.
KU head coach Bill Self spoke with reporters on Friday and revealed Peterson won't play on Saturday.
Peterson played in the first two games of the season for Kansas but will now miss two in a row.
He was averaging 21.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game through those first two contests.
Peterson is considered one of the three best freshmen in the country and one of the top contenders to be the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
The Jayhawks host Princeton on Saturday, and Peterson will just watch.
Darryn Peterson injury update
Peterson is dealing with a hamstring injury, according to Self.
His absence earlier in the week was a bit out of the blue, so fans have speculated something else might be going on here, but a hamstring injury would be a logical reason to miss a few lower-end non-conference games.
Kansas takes on Duke on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden. That'll be the one that points to how healthy Peterson really is.
The Jayhawks would certainly stand a much better chance against the Blue Devils if Peterson is out there to counter the talent of fellow freshmen Cameron Boozer and Dame Sarr.
But right now, it's not clear when Peterson may be ready to get back out on the floor in game action.
