The Houston Rockets are set to start one of the tallest starting lineups in NBA history on Tuesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
But is it the tallest?
Not if we measure it by total inches.
The Rockets' starting five is expected to be:
- 6-7 Amen Thompson
- 6-10 Jabari Smith Jr.
- 6-10 Kevin Durant
- 6-11 Alperen Sengun
- 6-11 Steven Adams
Some social media investigators found one starting lineup that's taller than the combined 413 inches of this group.
In 1998-99, the Dallas Mavericks rolled out this starting five:
- 6-5 Hubert Davis
- 6-7 Michael Finley
- 7-0 Dirk Nowitzki
- 7-0 Chris Anstey
- 7-6 Shawn Bradley
That group adds up to 414 inches.

The particularly tricky part of this is the Durant measurement. There's almost no way he's 6-foot-10. Most view him as a 7-footer, but he's never allowed himself to be listed that tall in the NBA.
If Durant was 7-feet even on the books instead of 6-10, the Rockets would have the record.
The Rockets also get a bad break by those Mavs having a 7-foot-6 guy. These Rockets are just incredibly tall across the board, not even having a 6-foot-5 guard like Davis on that Mavs team.
Either way, they're very, very tall.
