Rockets' Alperen Sengun makes basketball history with stats never done in NBA image

Alperen Sengun continues to make his case as one of the best basketball players on the planet.

That continued on Monday night against the Utah Jazz when Sengun put up a combination of stats never before done in the NBA.

His final stat line looked like this:

  • 31 points
  • 8 rebounds
  • 14 assists
  • 2 steals
  • 5 blocks

StatMuse shared that it was a first-of-its-kind feat.

As a passing wizard at center, Sengun is quite easy to compare to Nikola Jokic, even if that's taking it just a bit too far.

But he really is a remarkably special player.

The Rockets have slowly moved more and more toward running their offense through him. Not having Fred VanVleet all season due to injury has made it that much more of a necessity to operate through Sengun.

He's not disappointing, either. Sengun's offense has been on the mark.

He also is making more and more defensive contributions. To have five blocks and a couple steals in a game is something Sengun wouldn't have come close to earlier in his career, but now, he's capable.

It's been quite the rise for Sengun, and he likely isn't done yet getting better.
