The Golden State Warriors are coming off a key bounceback win.
But in hopes of following that up, they'll be shorthanded on Friday night when they take on the San Antonio Spurs again.
They have ruled out Jonathan Kuminga.
The Warriors' veteran stars are all set to play, but they'll be without one of their main young talents.
Why isn't Jonathan Kuminga playing tonight?
Jonathan Kuminga isn't playing Friday for the Warriors against the Spurs because Golden State is trying to be careful with an ongoing injury.
The injury is listed as bilateral knee tendinitis.
According to ESPN's Anthony Slater, there is no structural damage.
"Absence should be relatively short-term, but Kuminga/Warriors want to manage some of the recent soreness he’s been experiencing," Slater wrote.
Ironically, it's the younger Warriors starter with knee soreness and not one of the older guys.
Obviously, Golden State is aiming big this season, and having as many of its good players available at a time is the goal.
Last season, Kuminga had an injury, Jimmy Butler came to town and Kuminga barely played from there.
Kuminga certainly won't want that to happen this time around, but it's hard to know. The Warriors haven't really been clicking, and they need to find a groove. If they find it without Kuminga, his role could be lesser by the time he's back.
