Dominating in the G-League has its perks, as players can play their way into two-way or standard deals.

A 6-foot NCAA champion point guard (Houston Cougars) has been a standout contributor with the Santa Cruz Warriors this season, compelling the big dogs (Golden State Warriors) to sign him to assist their star point guard, Stephen Curry.

“The Warriors are signing LJ Cryer to a two-way contract and waiving Jackson Rowe,” ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel stated Monday.

The Warriors signed Cryer to a training camp deal in October, allowing him to audition for a full-time spot on Steve Kerr’s roster.

The Houston product played well in spurts, efficiently recording 14 points against the Portland Trail Blazers in an epic 21-point comeback and 11 points against the Los Angeles Lakers the following night.

However, Cryer’s overall body of work wasn’t sufficient to earn a new contract with the Dubs, resulting in the franchise waiving him shortly after their preseason finale vs. The Los Angeles Clippers.

Impressively, though, Cryer has put his head down and played motivated basketball for Santa Cruz in the G League this season.

The 24-year-old is averaging 24.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.9 rebounds through seven games, connecting on 44.4% of his field goals and 41.4% of his long-range jump shots, earning him a two-way deal with Golden State.

It will be interesting to see what Cryer does with the new opportunity presented to him by the Curry-led Western Conference organization.
