The list of eight:
- Barry Bonds
- Roger Clemens
- Carlos Delgado
- Jeff Kent
- Don Mattingly
- Dale Murphy

This committee votes on potential candidacy of anyone whose significant contributions to baseball occurred since 1980.
It's a 16-person voting group that includes Hall of Famers, executives and media members.
For a player to get into the Hall of Fame from this group, they need at least 75% of the vote -- in this case, 12 votes.
Bonds and Clemens weren't elected in their standard ballot eligibility. Neither was anyone else on this list.
The Steroid Era put a wrench into voting, and it resulted in some of the best players ever not making it into the Hall of Fame.
There will never be perfect agreement on whether guys like Bonds and Clemens should get in. But it's noteworthy that they're getting this next opportunity.
