The Philadelphia Phillies finally got their long-awaited offseason wish to re-sign Kyle Schwarber, bringing him back on a $150 million extension through the 2030 season.

This deal wasn't unexpected, and fortunately for the Phillies, they didn't see him leave for another team's roster this winter. However, Schwarber did join a different roster other than the Phillies' this winter.

As MLB Network insider Jon Morosi shared, Schwarber is joining Team USA's roster for the upcoming 2026 World Baseball Classic.

"NEWS: Kyle Schwarber named to Team USA," Morosi reports. This news for Schwarber was shared hours before his Phillies contract was revealed, and there was initial fear from Phillies fans about which Schwarber news was coming.

Those fans didn't have to wait long to hear the best news possible: that Schwarber was returning to Philadelphia. But his inclusion on the World Baseball Classic Team USA roster is a well-deserved one.

The last WBC, Schwarber hit a huge home run off Yu Darvish in the eighth inning in the championship game, and now will re-join the roster to help Team USA win the WBC in 2026.

Other players on the Team USA roster alongside Schwarber are Aaron Judge, Paul Skenes, Cal Raleigh, Bobby Witt Jr., Corbin Carroll, Gunnar Henderson, Will Smith, Pete Crow-Armstrong, and Brice Turang.

For now, Schwarber is the only Phillies player on the roster, but that could change as the WBC approaches in 2026. Schwarber joined two rosters on Tuesday, signing a $150 million deal with the Phillies and joining Team USA to add to an already incredible roster.
