Saturday’s World Series finale saw the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays to capture their second consecutive championship. With the 2025 season now in the books, offseason festivities are underway as Major League Baseball begins to honor the year’s top performers.

On Sunday night, Rawlings announced its annual Gold Glove Award winners, recognizing the best defensive players at each position in both leagues. For the New York Yankees, left-handed pitcher Max Fried added more hardware to his trophy case, earning his fourth career Gold Glove Award.

This marks Fried’s first Gold Glove as an American League pitcher after previously winning three during his time with the Atlanta Braves. Known for his athleticism on the mound and sharp fielding instincts, Fried once again showcased elite defense in his first season with New York.

Fried led all major league pitchers in Outs Above Average (OAA) and ranked second in pickoffs, trailing only Matthew Boyd of the Chicago Cubs. His quick reactions and control of the running game continued to make him one of baseball’s premier defensive pitchers.

With four Gold Gloves to his name, Fried is climbing the all-time leaderboard. Another win would tie him for eighth place among pitchers, alongside Phil Niekro, Ron Guidry, Kenny Rogers and Dallas Keuchel.

While records held by Greg Maddux (18) and Jim Kaat (16) may be unreachable, Fried’s consistency and longevity could help him carve out a historic legacy of his own.

The 31-year-old will look to build on that success as he returns to the Bronx for his second season with the Yankees in 2026.
