Yankees' Gerrit Cole releases exciting injury update image

The New York Yankees had to play the entire 2025 MLB season without Gerrit Cole.

He underwent Tommy John surgery after a spring training injury and couldn't contribute at all.

The good news is that Cole is working his way back.

On his Instagram, he shared footage of him throwing off a mound:

The Yankees had to adjust without Cole.

Max Fried, the big offseason signing, bumped up from the No. 2 spot to the ace role and was very good.

But then the Yanks dealt with other injuries, too, like Luis Gil and Clarke Schmidt. It was a very stop and start year for the pitching rotation.

Cole certainly would've helped, including in the postseason, but last year is done.

The Yankees' main hope is that Cole can be up to speed for Opening Day in 2026, or close to it.

Throwing off a mound on Nov. 1 seems like a great step in the right direction.

There's still lots of work to be done, and the Yankees will surely be cautious.

But Cole is working his way back, and that's good news.
