The most gold medals Australia has ever won at Paralympic Games

Australia has a storied history at the Paralympic Games, dominating in a host of sports since its inception in 1960.

This will be the 16th Paralympics that we have sent athletes to, and in the previous 15 appeearances, Australia have brought home a grand total of 368 gold medals.

Australia hosted the Paralympics back in 2000 in Sydney, which coincided with our most successful gold medal tally of 63.

Sydney 2000 was the most successful Paralympics for our athletes, bringing home 63 gold medals.

In New York, Australia won 49 golds but the overall tally was actually 154 - five more than the total tally in Sydney.

Australia's two best sports in Paralympic Games history have undoubtedly been swimming and athletics.

Over the years, Australia have brought home 153 gold medals in athletics and another 128 gold in the pool.

Other notable sports include cycling (37 golds) and shooting (15 golds), with every other sport only producing single-figures in terms of gold medals.
