Gout Gout is expected to be the next biggest star in Australian Athletics.

But a fellow Queensland teenager could be a challenger to the 17-year-old's crown.

Uwezo Lubenda, 16, won the 100m title with a time of 10.35 in the age-16 category at the Queensland Representative School Sport - breaking the event's record of 10.73 set 15 years ago.

His blistering run saw the teenager destroy the field, much like we have seen from Gout Gout over the past 12 months in races against his age peers.

Lubenda's 10.35 is only 0.18 behind the fastest time Gout ran as a 16-year-old - which was a 10.17 ran at the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships in Brisbane last year.

The previous fastest time run by Lubenda was 10.72 - showcasing his rapid improvement.

While the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles might come a little early for Lubenda to have an impact, his home Olympics at Brisbane 2032 loom as his target.

"Man, I feel amazing," Lubenda said, per the Townsville Bulletin after his run.

"I was kind of hoping for a time like that, and I wasn't thinking too much about it, but I'm really grateful.

"My goal is 2032 Brisbane; I've got my eyes on that."

Gout has twice run a wind-assisted 9.99 in the 100m but neither are legal times because of the assistance.

His fastest legal time stands at the 10.17 he ran as a 16-year-old at the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships in December.
