Parramatta Eels have confirmed that Zac Lomax is on track to return for pre-season training despite being sidelined from the Kangaroos’ Ashes Series against England.
The winger was withdrawn from the national squad after scans revealed his abdominal strain, sustained late in the NRL season, had not fully healed.
The Eels released a statement clarifying the extent of the injury and offering reassurance to fans about his recovery timeline. “Zac Lomax finished the season with an abdominal strain,” the club said.
“Recent scans have shown that it has not fully healed and limits Zac’s power and strength. This injury needs to be rested in order to fully recover. Whilst being ruled out of the Kangaroo Tour, it is expected that Zac will be ready for pre-season training.”
Addo-Carr and Best drafted into Kangaroos squad
Lomax’s absence has opened the door for his Parramatta teammate Josh Addo-Carr to rejoin the Kangaroos squad.
Newcastle Knights centre Bradman Best has also been called up after Xavier Coates withdrew following scans.
While Lomax’s omission is a blow for Mal Meninga’s side, Parramatta will be buoyed by news that the 24-year-old is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2026 NRL campaign.
