Freshly-crowned Super League champions Hull KR are keen to tackle NRL premiers Brisbane early next year with the World Club Challenge high on the agenda of both clubs—if a complex web of logistics can be navigated.
It’s understood a provisional date has been set for Saturday February 21 with the match most likely to be played in England.
The following day Hull KR would fly to the USA for its Super League clash with Leeds in Las Vegas, while Michael Maguire’s men would return to Australia for the start of their 2026 NRL title defence in early March.
It would be the first time Hull KR has participated in the World Cup Challenge while Brisbane would be aiming for a third title in its sixth appearance.

Hull KR coach Willie Peters said the opportunity to face the reigning NRL premiers on home soil would be a huge honour.
“How cool is that, to be able to play in the game, we would be representing Super League, not just Hull KR,” he said following his side’s 24-6 grand final victory over Wigan.
“The teams who have done it in the past have done it in the right way and we will go out to win that game no matter what, there’s no doubt about it. We’ll prepare for that when the time comes.”
For now Peters’ immediate focus is the Ashes test series beginning at Wembley stadium on 25 October, where he will be an assistant to Kangaroos head coach Kevin Walters.
The 2026 NRL season begins on Sunday 1 March (AEDT) with a double-header in Las Vegas as the Bulldogs face the Dragons and the Knights play the Cowboys.
