Moses Mbye’s confirmed move to the Ipswich Jets for 2026 looked like the end of his top-flight career. Yet the St Helens playmaker could still have a route back into the NRL, thanks to Ipswich’s ties with the Gold Coast Titans.
The 32-year-old, who has spent the past two-and-a-half years in Super League with Paul Wellens’ side, had been set to combine playing duties with an off-field development role at the Jets.
But with Ipswich serving as a feeder club for the Titans, a door to the top tier remains ajar.

Titans connection opens the door
Former Titans coach Des Hasler was reportedly interested in bringing Mbye into his squad before learning he would not continue in charge beyond 2025. That decision leaves the call in the hands of whoever takes over the Gold Coast side in 2026.
Mbye’s versatility is likely to make him an attractive option. During his spell at Saints, he has covered several positions, but lately found his groove in the halves. With age still on his side, he could yet prove valuable to an NRL roster looking for experience and flexibility.
For now, his focus remains on closing out his Super League chapter and preparing for life with Ipswich. Whether that move becomes a stepping stone back to the NRL will rest firmly on the new regime at the Titans.
