In huge news on the Northern Beaches, Manly Sea Eagles superstar fullback Tom Trbojevic is set to spurn overtures from the English Super League to remain at Manly on a monster three-year deal.

The new deal is reported to be worth around $2.5 million across three seasons, with the extension keeping him at Manly until the end of the 2029 NRL season, as reported by the Sydney Morning Herald.

It’s also said to contain a clause tied to future broadcast deals that could see his salary rise to almost $3 million over the course of the contract extension.

For a player who has had obvious issues staying on the park, averaging fewer than 14 games per season across the last five years, the deal represents arguably good business for both parties.

Trbojevic remains on a big pay packet, but his importance to Manly can’t be understated, with the fullback looking likely to be one of the rare modern stars to retire as a one-club player.

At the end of the deal Trbojevic will be 32 years old, and both club and player can then reassess the future — much like what has recently happened with older brother Jake.

Jake Trbojevic struggled with injury for the first time in his career this season, resulting in a career-low 17 games played in 2025.

He will be 32 years old at the start of next season, and with much of his injury concerns this year centred around concussion, the noise has grown louder about when he might choose to hang up the boots.

It has now been reported that, along with younger brothers Tom and Ben, Jake will be offered a one-year extension to play on next season as well, which is understood to likely be his last.

Tom Trbojevic

Keeping Tom Trbojevic at Manly is a huge coup for the Sea Eagles, with the shock possibility of him heading to England stunning the NRL in the past week.

It was reported Trbojevic’s manager had sounded out a possible move to England if the Sea Eagles had reservations about keeping him long term, but any speculation was quickly put to rest following Tom’s meetings with the club this week.

As part of his extension, it’s been said that the Sea Eagles still have a plan to eventually transition Trbojevic to another position, though he will begin next year at fullback, with the superstar fully on board with Manly’s plan.

While there’s no doubt the Sea Eagles are taking on some risk by guaranteeing so many years, the departure of Daly Cherry-Evans, among others, meant the Silvertails simply could not afford to lose Trbojevic as well.

After missing out on finals this season, it’s a gamble that had to be made, and with the incoming signing of Raiders halfback Jamal Fogarty, the Sea Eagles will likely remain in the hunt for finals football again next year.

The pressure, however, could not be higher — both on Trbojevic and on the Manly brass who continue to bet on their superstar number one.
