Tino Fa'asuamaleaui makes call on international representation: 'Unfinished business' image

Tino Fa'asuamaleaui cited Australia's 30-0 loss to the Kiwis in the 2023 Pacific Championships final as his reason for sticking with the Kangaroos.

The star forward is eligible for Samoa and has previously represented the nation of his father's birth but has opted to play for Australia in the upcoming Ashes.

A host of big names have recently chosen to represent the nation of their heritage, with Broncos front-rower Payne Haas notably opting to play for Samoa after four caps for the Kangaroos.

In a video posted to social media, Fa'asuamaleaui spoke about his decision.

"To be a part of the Ashes tour over in England, the first time in a long time, it's a bit of history and it's something that I really want to be a part of," Fa'asuamaleaui said.

"Obviously I've got unfinished business with the green and gold in the fashion that we lost in.

"I'm very, very grateful to be on that tour and I can't wait for what's ahead and I can't wait to put that jersey back on."

Fa'asuamaleaui missed most of the 2024 season due to an ACL injury, meaning his last appearance for Australia came in the disappointing defeat to New Zealand at the end of 2023.

The Titans firebrand's words will be music to the ears of incoming Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters, who will now have a clearer idea of what his forward pack might look like for the three-match series against England which kicks off on October 25.
