Tigers winger Taylan May is attempting to recover his missing premiership ring after it was spotted for sale on eBay with a $10,000 price tag.

The 23-year-old, who collected the jewellery as part of Penrith’s 2021 NRL triumph, was unaware it had gone missing until the listing was brought to his attention.

His manager, Ahmad Merhi, told Code Sports that enquiries had already begun. “He’s never known where it’s gone. It’s not an item that he would sell,” Merhi said. “We’re going to do some investigating to work out how it has ended up where it has ended up.”

A rare piece of Panthers history

The ring, one of several crafted after Penrith’s victory over South Sydney, was awarded to players who spent months in Queensland’s biosecurity bubble during the Covid-19 pandemic. Though May featured only once that year, he was recognised alongside his teammates for the sacrifices made away from family.

The eBay ad emphasises that the piece is “not a replica, not a copy” and highlights its role as “a symbol of sacrifice, perseverance and Panther pride.” Designed by Affinity Diamonds with input from NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller, the rings feature two carats of diamonds and blue sapphires.

May, released by Penrith in 2024 and now with Wests Tigers, is determined to retrieve the keepsake. There is no suggestion of any illegality in the sale, but the forward hopes his slice of Panthers history doesn’t end up in someone else’s collection.
