Castleford Tigers have confirmed the capture of Fiji international Semi Valemei, with the North Queensland Cowboys winger agreeing to a two-year contract starting in 2026.
The 26-year-old becomes the fourth NRL recruit to join Cas’ new era under incoming head coach Ryan Carr, following the signings of Brock Greacen, Blake Taaffe and Mikaele Rivalawa.
Director of Rugby Chris Chester had promised a strong recruitment drive, and Valemei’s arrival is another statement addition.
‘Excited to play in front of passionate fans’
Born in Labasa, Valemei has scored 23 tries in 46 NRL appearances, initially with Canberra Raiders before moving to the Cowboys. He also boasts seven Fiji caps and played at the delayed 2021 Rugby League World Cup in England, crossing against the Kangaroos in their opening game.

The outside-back said he was energised by conversations with Chester before committing to the move.
“When I spoke with Chris (Chester) a couple of weeks ago, it got me excited, especially when he talked about the club and how it will operate moving forward,” Valemei explained. “All the Cas fans are passionate about their rugby, and one of my mates is playing there too, so I’m also excited to play alongside him.”
Chester welcomed the signing enthusiastically: “Semi possesses both speed and power, and he’s a proven try-scorer at the highest level. He’s a player I know all our fans will be looking forward to watching in Super League, and I’m delighted we’ve been able to get this signing over the line.”
Valemei will arrive in West Yorkshire ahead of the 2026 campaign as Castleford continue to reshape their squad.
