Brisbane have been handed a timely boost on the eve of the finals, with Michael Maguire confirming Selwyn Cobbo will make his return this weekend after overcoming a hamstring injury.
The 22-year-old flyer has been given the green light to line up for feeder side Wynnum Manly in Sunday’s Queensland Cup preliminary final against Norths Devils, ending weeks on the sidelines.

Praise for Cobbo’s recovery effort
“It’s been a while out for him, but credit to the staff for getting him fit again,” Maguire said. “I have some great physios who have worked tirelessly on trying to get all our players on the field every week.
“It’s also up to the player to put the effort and work in, and Selly’s attention to detail and his desire to get his hamstring right has been first class.”
Cobbo’s return comes as a major lift for Brisbane, who are preparing for their own preliminary final tilt next weekend. His speed and finishing ability have made him one of the Broncos’ most dangerous strike weapons, and his match fitness with Wynnum could prove crucial if he is called upon at NRL level.
