Warriors fans are questioning whether the NRL club’s prestigious Player of the Year award went to the wrong recipient on Tuesday night.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck claimed the Simon Mannering Medal for the fourth time and was also voted by his teammates as Players’ Player of the Year.

Erin Clark was among five nominees alongside Tuivasa-Sheck, Kurt Capewell, Jackson Ford, and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad.

Both Clark and Nicoll-Klokstad were also finalists for the Players’ Player honor.

Despite strong competition, Tuivasa-Sheck swept both awards, securing his first Simon Mannering Medal since 2019.

Even Roger Tuivasa-Sheck admitted during his acceptance speech that Erin Clark “probably deserved to win it.”

The 32-year-old fullback delivered a standout 2025 season, scoring 12 tries in 19 games to equal his career-best single-season tally.

He averaged an impressive 216 running metres per game, ranking second in the NRL behind Dylan Edwards, and led the league in post-contact metres with a 72.7 average.

Meanwhile, Erin Clark emerged as one of the best signings of the year after transferring from the Gold Coast Titans.

Playing all 25 games for the Warriors, Clark became arguably their most consistent forward, averaging 147 metres per match and recording 66 tackle breaks.

When Tuivasa-Sheck’s win was announced, fans quickly took to social media to question the result.

Kiwi commentator Sam Hewat, who attended the awards night, posted: “I’m not sure I totally agree. Even Roger admits ‘a man wearing 13 could have won this award.’ Roger absolutely immense for the back half of the year, but Clark was phenomenal from RD 1 – RD 27.”

The popular Warriors NRL Fanatics account also shared: “In all due respect to Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and congrats to him. But for me Erin Clark should have won that award. I thought he was our best and most consistent player across the whole season.”

The Warriors finished 6th in 2025 and lost to the Panthers in their elimination final that took place last Saturday.
