World Club Challenge: Angus Crichton withdraws as Roosters, Warriors update team lists image

Sydney Roosters recruit Angus Crichton has been withdrawn from the World Club Challenge against the Wigan Warriors to be played in the UK on Monday morning (AEDT).

The former Rabbitohs back-rower underwent off-season surgery on his shoulder and was ruled out of the WCC as a precaution.

Crichton, who has joined Sydney on a three-year deal, is a near certainty to line up for the Roosters in round one versus his old team, however.

Fellow Sydney signing Ryan Hall – an England Test winger – was also culled from the Roosters' initial 23-man squad as he continues his rehab from an ACL injury sustained last year.

He is likely to miss the opening rounds of the NRL season.

Poasa Faamausili and Asu Kepaoa were the other players omitted.

Crichton and Hall's absences aside, the reigning NRL premiers are likely to be at full-strength, with star halves pairing Cooper Cronk and Luke Keary confirmed fit to play.

The Roosters will equal Wigan's record of four WCC titles if they beat the Warriors, who are coached by ex-Sydney halfback Adrian Lam.

The teams previously met in 2014, with the Roosters storming to a 36-14 victory on that occasion.

See the 19-man squads for both clubs below. Two players from each side will be omitted.
