Every year a host of players announce their retirements from the NRL and this season is certainly no different.

Multiple premiership winners have pulled the curtain down on their careers, while some cult heroes have also called time as they prepare to head into the next phase of their lives.

Which NRL players have retired in 2025?

Former New Zealand Warriors captain Tohu Harris was the first player to announce his retirement this season as the forward was forced to walk away from the game due to a persistent wrist injury.

Harris dropped the bombshell news just before the 2025 campaign kicked off after failing to overcome his issues in the pre-season.

The Kiwi star debuted in 2013 for Melbourne and went on to win the 2017 premiership with the Storm before leaving to join the Warriors a year later.

He played 117 matches for the NZ-based outfit to add to his tally of 117 appearances for the Storm.

Meanwhile, Justin Olam and Tom Eisenhuth also entered into retirement due to medical reasons midway through the campaign.

Both players found the majority of their success at Melbourne, where they primarily played out their careers.

The Papua New Guinea wrecking ball lifted the title with the Storm in 2020 and played over 100 matches for the club, while Eisenhuth debuted for Penrith before enjoying a five-year spell in Victoria.

Chad Townsend, Kieran Foran and Jordan McLean announced their retirements towards the back end of the season.

The veteran trio all won premierships during their time in the NRL, with McLean also a part of Melbourne's 2017 triumph.

Foran won the premiership with Manly during the early stages of a career, which saw him register more than 300 appearances across five different clubs.

Townsend famously won the title with Cronulla in 2016 where he played at halfback to help guide the Sharks to a drought-breaking premiership.
