St Helens has secured South Sydney Rabbitohs back-rower Jacob Host on a two-year deal, adding another NRL recruit and bolstering the squad ahead of the 2026 Betfred Super League season.

The 29-year-old is St Helens’ second confirmed signing for next season this week, following the permanent acquisition of Shane Wright — the former North Queensland Cowboys star and 2019 Rookie of the Year.

The back-rower brings a wealth of experience to the Saints, having spent ten seasons in the NRL with St George Illawarra and the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Since making his debut in 2016, he has made 119 appearances and crossed the line for 11 tries.

Host is expected to arrive in the UK later this year to begin pre-season training with the Saints, with hopes of making an immediate impact on the squad.

The former Rabbitohs player won’t be the only recent NRL recruit at St Helens, joining fellow arrivals former Cowboys winger Kyle Feldt, Brisbane Broncos halfback Tristan Sailor, and Manly Sea Eagles back-rower Curtis Sironen.

“When Saints came knocking, the biggest club in England, it was an opportunity I couldn't turn down,” Host said in St Helens’ official signing announcement.

"I've learned a lot playing alongside some of the best players in the game. I feel I've developed massively as a player, and getting to the Grand Final was an experience that I want again.

"I don't want to wait around - I want to be challenging for trophies straight away. It's an exciting time for the Club, and I think that my energy can help us achieve that."

"I'm just really excited to get over there and rip in with all the boys! I'm going to work my backside off for the team and the fans, and do everything I can to get the win every week."
