The Cronulla Sharks have received relieving news from the Match Review Committee, who downgraded star playmaker Nicho Hynes' charge from grade two dangerous contact to grade one.
It was a hip-drop tackle on Bulldogs winger Marcelo Montoya in the closing stages of his side's 24-6 win on Saturday that originally put Hynes in hot water with the judiciary.
"When initially ascribing a grading to that offence, the MRC considered the contents of a medical report provided by the injured player’s club which offered preliminary details as to the nature and extent of the injury," said the match review committee in a media release.
"Subsequently, the Match Review Committee has received a further report which materially alters the nature and extent of the injury suffered by the player."
Hynes originally looked set to miss the Sharks win-or-go-home clash against the Roosters in the first week of the finals, however, the amended charge means he will escape with a $1,000 fine.
Montoya appears to have suffered a syndesmosis injury which will likely cut his season short as the Bulldogs prepare for a qualifying final against the Storm.
Given the stakes, it was almost certain that the club would've considered fighting the charge in a bid to keep Hynes on the park.

Now, they will likely take the early plea and welcome their chief playmaker back into the fold.
Hynes will partner the returning Braydon Trindall in the halves when Cronulla run out onto Shark Park on Saturday night for their elimination final against an in form Roosters outfit.
