Moses Mbye is set to return home after confirming he will leave English Super League side St Helens at the end of the season.

The 32-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Ipswich Jets in the Queensland Cup, extending his professional career in Australia through 2026 and 2027.

Mbye last featured in the NRL in 2023 before making the move overseas, where he became a steady figure for St Helens and embraced life in England both on and off the field.

He has now opted to continue playing in Queensland, bringing valuable experience and leadership to the state competition while keeping the door slightly ajar should an NRL opportunity present itself.

The utility playmaker has enjoyed a decorated journey, racking up 194 NRL appearances across stints with the Bulldogs, Tigers and Dragons, as well as representing Queensland in the 2019 State of Origin series.

Mbye also featured for the Prime Minister’s XIII and World All Stars during his career, underlining the versatility and quality that kept him in first grade for over a decade.

His time at St Helens drew praise from coach Paul Wellens, who credited his composure, leadership and professionalism in helping the club on and off the field.

While the Saints chapter closes, Mbye’s decision ensures his career continues into a 15th season of senior football, marking a rare longevity in the modern game.

For Ipswich, it is a significant coup to secure a player with his pedigree, as Mbye brings not only talent but also guidance for the next generation of players in Queensland pathways.
