Matt Peet has written his name into Super League history after guiding Wigan Warriors to a fourth consecutive top-two finish, joining an elite group of coaches that includes ex-Parramatta Eels and St Helens boss Daniel Anderson.
Wigan’s 22-6 victory over Leeds Rhinos on Friday evening at the Brick Community Stadium confirmed another top-four spot for the reigning champions, with their place in the top two already secure.
It is the fourth year running that Peet’s side have finished among the competition’s best, extending his remarkable start as head coach.

Company of Noble and Anderson
Peet is now one of only three coaches to achieve such consistency, alongside Brian Noble, whose Bradford side managed the feat from 2001 to 2004, and Anderson, who presided over four successive top finishes with St Helens between 2005 and 2008.
Both men also claimed multiple titles during their dominant spells, underlining the rare air Peet now occupies.
Since taking charge in 2022, Peet has delivered at least one trophy in each of his three completed seasons, including last year’s historic quadruple. With the play-offs looming, he has just one more chance to maintain his perfect record of silverware, and Wigan’s ominous form suggests another serious tilt at the Grand Final is on the cards.
Whether or not he adds another championship, Peet’s achievement already places him in the company of two of the sport’s most celebrated coaches.
