Lewis Dodd said the project presented by Catalans Dragons head coach Joel Tomkins reignited his hunger for rugby league after a challenging stint with South Sydney Rabbitohs.
The former St Helens playmaker made just six first-grade appearances in the NRL after falling out of favour with coach Wayne Bennett, but now returns to Super League determined to make up for lost time.
Dodd becomes one of several new faces joining the Perpignan club for 2026, part of a sweeping rebuild that has already captured the attention of fans and pundits alike.

‘The ambition and belief really stood out to me’
Speaking on his move, Dodd said the vision outlined by Tomkins and the club’s hierarchy made his decision simple. “After speaking with Joel and the staff about the vision and direction the owner and the team have for the club, I knew straight away it was something I wanted to be a part of,” he said.
“The ambition and belief within the group really stood out to me, and I can’t wait to get started at Catalans. I’ve seen first-hand how passionate and loyal the fans are. The atmosphere they create is something special, and I’m really looking forward to running out in front of them and giving everything I’ve got.”
Tomkins praised the 22-year-old’s attitude, saying: “Lewis is a great fit for what we want to build at the club. Still young in his career and motivated to achieve success with the Dragons, his combination with the rest of our spine players will be a huge asset to us.”
With 79 Super League appearances, three Grand Final wins and a Challenge Cup triumph already behind him, Dodd arrives in France with pedigree — and a point to prove.
