Jacob Alick-Wiencke looks set to continue his career in the Super League after being farewelled by the Gold Coast Titans at their end-of-season awards night.

The 24-year-old forward, who has played 19 games across three NRL seasons, is reportedly on the verge of signing with the Leigh Leopards for 2026.

Coached by Adrian Lam, the club already boasts Kumuls stars Edwin Ipape and Lachlan Lam, raising the prospect of a strong Papua New Guinea contingent in their squad.

Linking up with Kumuls teammates

According to All Out Rugby League, Leigh have moved quickly after their deal for former Manly forward Ben Condon collapsed when he failed a medical. Alick-Wiencke, who has represented PNG 10 times, would fill the gap while strengthening the team’s ties to the international stage.

His admiration for potential teammate Lachlan Lam has been no secret. Speaking to Zero Tackle in 2024, he said: “I think he’s probably one of the classiest players in the world at the moment. Probably a bit biased in that sense, but I love Lammy [Lachlan Lam]. He’s a great fella off the field and absolutely killing it on the field.

“I think any NRL club would be lucky to have him and he’s just in that sort of sweet spot... so any NRL club should be on the lookout for him.”

Alick-Wiencke was previously close to a Super League switch with Hull FC ahead of the 2024 campaign before the Titans extended his deal. This time, however, a move north looks far more certain.
