Former NRL centre Curtis Scott has been charged in relation to an alleged incident dating back nearly six months, continuing a pattern of off-field issues that have overshadowed his playing career.

Scott, who played 72 NRL games for Melbourne Storm (2016–19) and Canberra Raiders (2020–21), faces multiple charges including driving under the influence, mid-range drink-driving, and negligent driving.

He is alleged to have crashed his ute into several trees at Bonnet Bay in Sydney on June 15 before fleeing the scene.

The 25-year-old is due to appear at Sutherland Local Court in January to face the charges.

Despite a promising start in the NRL, Scott’s career has been marred by repeated incidents and off-field controversies that led to him being terminated in the NRL and pursuing a boxing career most recently.

Off the field, Scott has a long history of legal troubles. In 2020, he was arrested near the Sydney Cricket Ground and charged with six offences, including two counts of assaulting a police officer.

In 2022, he was convicted over domestic violence offences against a former girlfriend, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, and stalking or intimidation with intent to cause fear of physical harm.

Scott was again charged in 2023 with driving while his license was suspended, pleading guilty but avoiding conviction.

His upcoming court date in January marks the latest chapter in what has been a tumultuous post-playing career for the once promising former NRL player
