Three men have been charged by NSW Police following a wild crowd brawl at Saturday night’s elimination final between the Sharks and Roosters at Sharks Stadium.

All of the men attended Sutherland Police Station on Monday morning where they were charged with affray and released on bail.

The trio will now front Sutherland Local Court on Thursday October 2, just three days before the NRL grand final.

In addition to the police charges, the men have also been issued with banning notices that prohibit them from attending NRL venues.

Captured in dramatic footage posted to social media, the brawl occurred on the hill at Sharks Stadium and involved up to 10 people, with a child knocked to the ground in one scary moment.

Thankfully no serious injuries were reported.

In response to the incident NSW premier Chris Minns called for unruly fans to think twice and know that the police will move quickly to stamp out antisocial behaviour at rugby league venues.

“I just implore people to respect the fact that a lot of people take their kids to the football,” Minns told The Daily Telegraph.

“They go there with their families, they expect to have a safe and fun and enjoyable time with their family and to see a couple of thugs punch on is just disgraceful.

“The police will throw the book at you and you might face lifetime bans.”
