The Dolphins have secured the services of England halfback George Williams, who has signed a two-year deal to return to the NRL from 2027.
Williams, widely regarded as one of the premier playmakers in the Super League, will form a new-look halves pairing with rising star Isaiya Katoa in Redcliffe.
The signing further strengthens Kristian Woolf’s squad as they continue building long-term depth.
The Daily Telegraph reported that while the Dolphins were keen to bring Williams to Australia immediately, negotiations with Warrington broke down over a release fee.

The English club demanded a $400,000 payout to free the 29-year-old from his contract for 2026, a figure the Dolphins were unwilling to meet.
A potential player swap, which included veteran playmaker Kodi Nikorima, was also discussed but ultimately dismissed.
As a result, Williams will see out next season with the Wolves before making the move to Queensland.
Williams is expected to captain England in this year’s historic Ashes series against Australia, where he will line up alongside Dolphins centre Herbie Farnworth.
