Tonga has announced a 21-man squad for the 2025 Pacific Championships, where they’ll go head-to-head with Samoa and New Zealand.
Queensland State of Origin centre Robert Toia has been selected to make his international debut for Tonga, joining fellow newcomers Stefano Utoikamanu, Leka Halasima, and Demetric Vaimauga.
Toia, who represented Queensland earlier this year, will now line up for his nation of heritage. Utoikamanu, fresh off playing in the NRL Grand Final for the Storm, and Warriors duo Halasima and Vaimauga, who helped guide their club to the NRL finals, round out the new additions.
The squad will assemble in Tonga for a pre-tournament camp before kicking off their campaign against Samoa at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Sunday, October 26.
