Cory Paix has locked in another year with the Brisbane Broncos, finally securing his place despite years of speculation linking him to rival clubs.
Once overlooked by former coach Kevin Walters and moved down the depth chart, Paix has impressed under new coach Michael Maguire and forced his way into a regular hooking role this season.
This year Paix has played 20 NRL matches, with most of them starting and showing glimpses of his attacking prowess from QLD Cup with 3 tries and some clever work near the try line.
He was one of the highest-paid players in the Queensland Cup last season with a reported salary of $320,000, leading many to believe his time at Broncos might be over at the end of his deal.

Instead, the Broncos have rewarded his perseverance and development, offering an extension through at least the end of 2026 to retain his services in their spine.
Paix has spoken openly about his loyalty to the club, saying they took a chance on him when he was a kid, and he now wants to repay that faith with consistent performances.

Broncos’ management have praised his attitude, work ethic and the energy he brings, with Broncos GM of football Troy Thomson speaking glowingly of Paix's retention.
“Paixy has been at the Club since he started his football journey, and he's worked really hard to be back playing consistently at the top level,” Thomson said.
“He's an important member of the squad and is always looking for ways to develop his craft as a hooker." Thomson continued.
With injuries in the spine and key departures looming, keeping Paix provides the Broncos with valuable depth and assurance in the hooker department.
Paix’s re-signing is also a strong message for young players in the lower grades - it shows that hard work, persistence and patience are often rewarded in rugby league.
