Brisbane Broncos premiership winner Gorden Tallis has launched a grand final day tirade over criticism of his comments surrounding the club’s coaching situation.
Now working in the media with Fox Sports and Triple M, Tallis has been openly critical of the decision to replace Kevin Walters with Michael Maguire after Brisbane missed the 2024 finals, and was particularly vocal when the Broncos were struggling mid-season.
Speaking on Triple M earlier on grand final day, Tallis decided it was time to set the record straight.
“I’ve had my run-ins with him (Maguire) and a lot of people have had a shot at me,” Tallis said in Triple M.

“My question is would Kevvie Walters have this side in the same position? I’d say ‘yes’ and he wasn’t given the opportunity.”
Tallis explained his issue was never with Maguire personally.
“My beef was the way the club went about it, they didn’t show a bloke (Walters) that’s been there for 33 years a bit more respect,” he said.
“I hate the way they did the business at the time they did it, I just think they should have shown a lot more respect and Madge had his fingerprints over it as well.
“That’s the bullshit I don’t like.”
Despite his comments throughout the season, Tallis explained he still hopes his old side defeats the Storm to claim its first premiership in 19 years.
“It’s not the fact that I hate the Broncos, because I don’t,” he said.
“Do I wish the Broncos win? Absolutely.”
