Aaron Schoupp linked to Super League move as Manly stay set to end image

Aaron Schoupp appears poised to leave the NRL for the Super League, with the 24-year-old outside back linked to a move to the Catalans Dragons.

The potential switch comes as one of six Manly Sea Eagles players yet to secure deals for next season, with the club reportedly ready to move on.

Since joining Manly midway through last year, Schoupp has struggled to claim a regular first-grade spot, instead featuring mainly in the NSW Cup. Despite early promise in his career, he has only managed four appearances for the Sea Eagles but brings experience from over 50 NRL matches with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and Gold Coast Titans.

Opportunity overseas

According to All Out Rugby League, Catalans Dragons are the frontrunners for Schoupp’s services, while Sam Burgess-coached Warrington Wolves have also expressed interest. The outside back was shopped to rival NRL clubs earlier this season before the June 30 deadline, highlighting the uncertainty around his immediate future.

Although still young, Schoupp could benefit from a spell in Europe, potentially returning to the NRL stronger in the future, especially with two expansion franchises entering the competition in coming seasons.

Other Sea Eagles currently without contracts include Gordon Chan Kum Tong, Daly Cherry-Evans, Raymond Tuaimalo Vaega, Siosiua Taukeiaho and Tommy Talau.

A move to the Super League could offer Schoupp the game time and platform he needs to reignite his career at the top level.
