The San Francisco 49ers cannot get away from the injury bug already in the 2025 season.
San Francisco dealt with several injuries to its receiving corps in the preseason, but it didn't end there. 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey was a surprise practice injury report add on Thursday and was questionable heading into the weekend. Even when the game started, the injuries continues as George Kittle was ruled out early in the second quarter due to a hamstring injury.
The latest injury is to starting wide receiver Jauan Jennings. With Brandon Aiyuk still recovering from his torn ACL suffered in 2024, Jennings had been serving as the No. 1 wide receiver. He picked up a shoulder injury in the fourth quarter of the team's Week 1 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Jennings was declared questionable to return, but with it being late in the fourth quarter, his return was far from guaranteed.

Jennings was absent for much of training camp and the preseason due to his dealing with a calf injury. While no injury is good, at least the latest injury for Jennings isn't the calf injury aggravated. Instead, the wide receiver is questionable to return due to a shoulder injury. A possible return to the field for Jennings was further delayed because the 49ers have had so many injuries in the game, that the blue medical tent was occupied and he had to wait before going into get looked at.

From the timing of the injury, to having to wait to get into the blue tent, Jennings did not return to the game. An update on the broadcast said that Jennings "can barely lift his arm." Even without him, the 49ers held on to win 17-13.
