Gladys Knight, an Atlanta native and "Empress of Soul," will sing the Super Bowl 53 national anthem prior to kickoff in 2019. 

Knight, a seven-time Grammy Award winner, joins a long list of performers chosen to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl. Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross and Garth Brooks, among many others, have performed the "Star-Spangled Banner" to set the tone for the biggest game of the year.

Super Bowl 53 will be aired nationally on CBS and the national anthem will be televised prior to the start of the game on Feb. 3. The festivities and game will take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Gladys Knight has been chosen to sing the national anthem at Super Bowl 53. The seven-time Grammy Award winner and Atlanta native's biggest hits include "Midnight Train to Georgia" and "That's What Friends are For," both Billboard Hot 100 singles. She also has 11 No. 1 R&B singles, as well as six No. 1 R&B albums. Knight is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with The Pips. 

Knight will be joined by R&B sister duo Chloe x Halle, who will perform "America the Beautiful."

Deaf activist Aarron Loggins is signing both the national anthem and "America the Beautiful" during the pregame festivities.

Super Bowl 53 is on Monday, Feb. 4. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. AEDT 

Who is performing during halftime of Super Bowl 53?

Maroon 5 is headlining the Super Bowl halftime show in 2019. They will be joined on stage by rappers Travis Scott and Big Boi, an Atlanta native.
