- Where is Malik Nabers from?
Malik Nabers has come a long way since being born in Lafayette, La. Now a star with the New York Giants, he originally stayed local growing up and attended Ovey Comeaux High School before transferring to Southside High School.
That transfer ultimately cost Nabers his senior year of high school football, as his waiver request was denied. He originally committed to Mississippi State but decided to decommit and stay in-state by attending LSU. Nabers spent three years with the Tigers before he was drafted with the No. 6 overall pick by the Giants in the 2024 NFL Draft. The wide receiver had the most receptions (109) by a rookie at his position in league history.
Here's more on Nabers' family, including his mom, siblings and cousin.

Malik Nabers mom: Tonya Nabers
Nabers' mom, Tonya, has been one of his biggest supporters throughout his life. She recalls his being good at baseball, football and basketball while not knowing which one he would ultimately pursue. Tonya knew when he was nine or 10 that he had it in him to play professional football, but Malik knew when he was eight. He told his mom then that he would play professional football, and she said, "You're going to do what it takes to get there? Because it's not going to be easy..."
During another pre-draft interview, she expressed her happiness for her son and how far he had come, saying, "I'm trying to figure out where the time went! It just moves so quickly. I feel like just yesterday I was giving him a hug when I brought him to school for the first time. Every day, I have to pinch myself sometimes and say, 'My goodness, that's my son!' I knew the qualities that he had, but to actually see it on display and for the world to see, it's amazing."
It's always a feel-good story when rookies give back to their families when they get their first professional contract. Nabers decided to buy his mom a house and take care of some of her bills. He said in a press conference with the Giants that he "Put [his] mom in a house that she wanted." Nabers continued: "Changed my life forever, so I'm happy to be here. That was the most important thing in my life, I would say, is having her have her own house and feel comfortable and not having to worry about bills to pay. And know that her little boy did it for her."

Malik Nabers brother: Dillon Nabers
Since Nabers played wide receiver at LSU, he developed a strong relationship with quarterback Jayden Daniels. While he has been outspoken about considering Daniels a brother, he also has six biological siblings, including one brother named Dillon. Very little is known about his younger brother except that he was one of the instrumental factors in keeping Malik focused during his senior year of high school when he wasn't allowed to play football.
"I stayed strong when I didn't have a senior year ... through my mom, uncle, cousins and my brother Dillon. You know they all kept my head focused on the mission," Nabers said. "Whether I was playing or not, I was still focused on just proving the people wrong, (the people) saying 'I wouldn't be the same cause I had a year off'."
