Few voices in sports broadcasting are more recognizable than Jim Nantz's.

Nantz has not only called seven Super Bowls as a play-by-play man, but he has also been behind the microphone for numerous unforgettable Final Four moments and Masters wins for CBS.

Nantz has since retired from calling college basketball, but he remains the voice of the NFL on CBS and plans to call the Masters until the 100th edition of the tournament in 2036.

Here's a complete look at Nantz's family, including his wife, Courtney, and the parents who inspired him along the way.

Jim Nantz wife: Courtney Richards Nantz

Nantz married his second and current wife, Courtney Richards, in 2012, three years after his divorce from his first wife. The two got engaged in 2010 while on vacation in Maine with some famous friends: former U.S. President George H.W. Bush, former First Lady Barbara Bush, and their son, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

While not much is known about Courtney's background, she worked for IMG, a management company for athletes and other celebrities, when she met Jim.

Jim and Courtney married at Pebble Beach, where they now live, on June 9, 2012.

    Caroline Nantz

Nantz's oldest daughter, Caroline, was born in 1994 during the broadcaster's first marriage. She graduated from USC with a communications degree and started out as an intern at CBS, where she held production roles behind the scenes for "CBS This Morning" and "Access Hollywood" before spending a year as a general production assistant at the network.

Caroline has worked at ADP, a human resources and payroll service company, since 2019, according to her LinkedIn. She became an Elite District Manager at the company in 2022.

Caroline married a man named Andy Delaney in Connecticut in September of 2023.

    Finley Nantz

Jim and Courtney welcomed their first child together into the world in 2014, when their daughter, Finley, was born.

    Jim Nantz son: Jameson Nantz

Jim and Courtney welcomed a son in 2016, when Jameson Nantz was born. Jameson's birth was a source of more stress for the couple than a typical birth, as he was born just six days before his father was on the call for Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara.

While Jameson's due date was three days after the game on Feb. 10, doctors believed late in Courtney's pregnancy that he would be born well before the due date. That turned out to be true, as he was born on Feb. 1 and gave his father plenty of time to refocus for the Super Bowl.

"It would have killed me if I would not have been there for the birth of my son, but my wife made it very clear: ‘Don’t even talk to me, you’re doing the game,'" Nantz told the New York Post in 2016, calling it "perfect timing" while admitting he would have listened to Courtney regardless.

In 2025, Jim was seen out on the golf course with Jameson, serving as his caddy.

Jim Nantz first wife: Lorrie Carlsen Nantz

Jim and his first wife, Lorrie, were married for 26 years until their divorce in 2009. Because of Nantz's status as a public figure, their tense divorce proceedings were frequently reported in the media.

Nantz was ordered by a judge to pay Lorrie $72,000 per month for the rest of his life, or until she remarried, in addition to child support until their daughter turned 23. Nantz also had to give up his Connecticut mansion and keep Lorrie on his health insurance as a beneficiary.

Nantz argued during the proceedings that Lorrie had lost interest in his career and spent exorbitantly before their divorce. His lawyer told the New York Post after the ruling that the divorce was still "an amicable split."

"[Jim] always wanted a peaceful resolution of an unfortunate situation," Nantz's lawyer continued. "He wants to put it behind him."

Jim Nantz dad: Jim Nantz Sr.

Nantz had a close relationship with his father, Jim Sr., who died in 2008 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Jim Sr. was diagnosed in the years after a stroke in 1995, and his condition gradually deteriorated over the decade that followed.

Before his health issues, the elder Nantz often tagged along with his son at major sporting events. He worked in the shipping industry while raising his two children.

Jim Sr.'s battle inspired his son to write a book titled, "Always By My Side: The Healing Gift of a Father’s Love." Nantz released the book in 2008, the same year his father passed away.

The younger Nantz didn't stop there. He and his now wife, Courtney, founded the Nantz National Alzheimer Center in Houston with the help of the Houston Methodist Neurological Institute in 2011. The NNAC is now a "world-renowned center with a focus on improving care and treatment for patients through the advancement of scientific research," according to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation.

Nantz told the Charlotte Observer that his father inspired his signature line, "Hello, friends," that he delivers at the start of every broadcast. Nantz first said those words at the 2002 PGA Championship to reach out to Jim Sr. as he was losing his memory.

"'Dad, this weekend, when I’m on the air, I’m going to be in Minnesota at Hazeltine, calling the PGA Championship. I’m gonna look at that camera and I’m going to say your name: Jim Nantz. But I’m going to first say, ‘Hello friends’ because you have nothing but friends,'" Nantz relayed to the Charlotte Observer. "'So that you know when I say, “Hello friends,” I’m thinking of you at that moment.'"

Jim Nantz mom: Doris Jean Holland Nantz

Nantz's mother, Doris, passed away in October 2022 at the age of 91. She was born in Charlotte, N.C., and attended Harding High School in the city.

Doris married Jim Sr. in 1951 and followed her husband from city to city as his career in the shipping industry necessitated. According to her obituary, Doris once earned the title of "Miss Charlotte."

In 2014, the press box at Houston's TDECU Stadium, home of the Cougars football team, was named in Doris' honor.

    Jim Nantz sister: Nancy Hockaday

Nantz has one sister, Nancy Hockaday. While Nancy has kept her life private even as her brother remains in the national spotlight, Nantz credits her with helping take care of their father while he was on the road.

"They lived it every day," Jim said of Nancy and her husband, as well as his and Nancy's mother. "They gave so much of themselves for years to make sure dad was looked after. They were so beautifully selfless about it. And I’ll never forget it."

As of 2022, Nancy and her husband, Don, lived in Houston.

    Where is Jim Nantz from?

Nantz was born in Charlotte, N.C. before moving to New Orleans and ultimately to Marlboro Township, N.J. where he attended Marlboro High School.

Nantz then attended the University of Houston, where he played golf and developed a lifelong passion for the school and its sports. He lived in Nashville, Tenn., before moving to Pebble Beach, Calif. with his second wife.

While Nantz doesn't currently live in Houston, part of his legacy in the city is the Nantz National Alzheimer Center at Houston Methodist Hospital, which he opened in 2011 after his father died of Alzheimer's Disease. Nantz makes frequent appearances at Houston games during the NCAA Tournament, so his ties to Texas remain strong even if he did not grow up in the state.
