New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll has been known for being an offensive genius when he was the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills when Josh Allen was his quarterback. Over the last couple of years, the Giants offensive numbers have not been good and that has been because of how bad quarterback Daniel Jones has been.
Russell Wilson will be the starting quarterback for the Giants in Week 1 against the Washington Commanders. Rookie Jaxson Dart will be the backup quarterback. Daboll loves his quarterback room this year. Will Daboll be calling the plays for the Giants in Week 1 against Washington or will it be someone else?
New York Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll to Give Up Play Calling Duties
The Giants head coach spoke to reporters on Thursday. He told reporters that Mike Kafka, the Giants offensive coordinator, will once again be calling the plays from the sidelines. Ian Rapoport posted this information about Daboll on Twitter. It is going to be interesting to see how that will go for New York early on in the season. The Giants will need to score points early and often against Washington.
They have been struggling to score points in the first half over the last three regular season openers. In order for New York to score points, they are going to need to get Malik Nabers the ball in space early and call for deep passes down the football field. If New York's offense struggles again in the opener against Washington, there will be many Giants fans questioning as to why Kafka is calling the plays.
