The Miami Dolphins have been without wide receiver Tyreek Hill since Week 4 of the 2025 NFL season. In that week’s game against the New York Jets, Hill dislocated his knee and tore multiple ligaments. He was quickly ruled out not only for the rest of the game but also for the season due to the severity of the injury.
Hill is 31 years old and will turn 32 before the start of the 2026 season. His best asset has been his speed, but at some point, he will start to decline. For most NFL positions, 30 is the age at which teams begin to wonder how much time players have left. Hill is under contract through the 2026 season in Miami, but the severe knee injury could have him considering hanging up his cleats for good.

Is Tyreek Hill retiring?
Not yet. Hill said on an appearance on former teammate Terron Armstead's podcast that he is considering it, but has not made a decision.
"At the end of the day, I feel like that decision is based upon how I feel and where my mindset is at the moment. I'm happy with the career that I've had. I love playing football. I love it, but it takes a lot. It takes a lot on you mentally, it takes a lot on you physically. I'm at the point now where I need to have a conversation with mom, family, everybody. Wherever my mind is at the time, the decision will be made, but I know right now, I haven't had time to live in the moment."
Hill will have plenty of time to think about it while he rehabs his knee and tries to get ready for the 2026 season if he does keep playing.

Tyreek Hill contract
Hill signed a three-year extension worth $90 million ahead of the 2024 season. That deal keeps him under contract through 2026, with three void years to spread out the cap hit. The Dolphins will likely rework the deal again, as Hill currently has a cap hit of $51,898,750 for the 2026 season.
