There were questions that Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian had to answer last season at the quarterback position. He decided to stick with Quinn Ewers at quarterback when he returned from an oblique injury when Arch Manning was playing well in his absence at the time.

Well, there must be a reason why Sarkisian went with Ewers and not with Manning. Texas was successful with him during the last two seasons. They made it to the playoffs twice and went to the college football playoffs semifinals. This season, the Longhorns are 3-2 and are on the verge of potentially missing the playoffs entirely.

Texas Longhorns fans apologize to Quinn Ewers

There are a lot of fans who wish they still had Ewers at quarterback right now rather than Manning. Yes, he was only a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but he has shown a lot more during his two years as a starter with the Longhorns than Manning has currently. Texas fans wish they still had him as the quarterback right now.

Texas might be 5-0 right now if Ewers was the quarterback instead of Manning. The offensive line has had its issues this season, but the Longhorns also had some offensive line issues last season as well.

In the 29-21 loss against the Florida Gators on Saturday, Manning completed 16-of-29 passes for 263 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. If Texas losses to the Oklahoma Sooners again this weekend, this program is going to have to figure out what to do at the quarterback position for the 2026 season. Ewers declaring for the NFL Draft has not turned out well for the program.
