The Texas Longhorns are the seventh ranked team in the country. Texas was preseason ranked number one, but the loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes in Week 1 dropped them in the polls.

The Longhorns bounced back against the San Jose State Spartans in Week 2. Texas will look to get another win in the column this weekend against the UTEP Miners. Entering the season, the Longhorns were one of the betting favorites not only to win the SEC Conference, but to win the national title as well. Is Texas still one of the betting favorites to win the national title entering Week 3 of the college football season?

Texas Longhorns Have the Fourth-Best Odds on BET MGM To Win the National Title

BET MGM released its updated national title odds for the 2025 college football season. Even with being ranked seventh in the country, Texas has the fourth-best odds to win it all at +700. The teams that are ahead of the Longhorns on this list are the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Georgia Bulldogs at +600 and Ohio State at +525.

In reality, the Longhorns lost to a team that is now the betting favorite to repeat as national champions. Right behind Texas, the Oregon Ducks are at number five at +900 odds to win the national title. It is not a surprise that the Longhorns are a top five betting favorite to win the national title. Texas has one of the best rosters in college football. Head coach Steve Sarkisian has done a great job recruiting over the years.

Another reason why they think Texas is one of the betting favorites is because of quarterback Arch Manning. Manning looked better in Week 2 than he did in Week 1. He still has a long way to go and has so much potential. The three toughest games for Texas in SEC Conference play will be against Georgia, the Oklahoma Sooners, and the Texas A&M Aggies.

As long as Texas finishes with a 10-2 record during the regular season, they are going to find a way into the college football playoff field. The Longhorns for now should be a top five betting favorite to win the national title, but all of that is subject to change over the next several weeks.
