College football rankings: Michigan drops out for first time in 2 years, Notre Dame rises again image

After another weekend of college football, the top six teams hold their spots. The top five teams also remain undefeated after Week 8: Alabama, Penn State, Georgia, TCU and Wisconsin.

In the AP Poll, Michigan fell out of the top 25 rankings for the first time in two years after losing to Penn State 42-13 in the rivalry game. Also in the AP Poll, Notre Dame made the biggest rise, jumping into the top 10 with a win against USC to further complicate the playoff field. Iowa State works its way into the mix, coming in at No. 25, but it will have a tough test to keep its spot next weekend with a matchup against TCU.

In the Coaches Poll, the same 25 teams were ranked, but they have shuffled into different spots. With big losses, USC and Michigan made the biggest falls. Michigan once held the No. 7 spot, but it now comes in at No. 25 after the disappointing showing at Penn State.
