After opening training camp, Team USA will play five exhibition games heading into the Olympics. They will play Nigeria on July 10, Australia on July 12 and July 16, Argentina on July 13 and Spain on July 18. Team USA will then play their first game of the Tokyo Olympics on July 25 against France.

Of the players who have committed, Devin Booker, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday remain in the 2021 NBA Playoffs.

It was reported that Chris Paul planned to commit to Team USA, but he declined an invitation per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. James Harden also reportedly planned to commit to Team USA, but USA Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo said he won't be a part of the team as he recovers from a hamstring injury.
