The New York Knicks didn't need more bad news. They're already taking on a Detroit Pistons squad that is rallying with its home crowd behind them and threatening to tie the series 2-2.
But the Knicks got the bad news anyway when Jalen Brunson went down and didn't get up.
Midway through the third quarter, Brunson attempted to make a play on the basketball near the sideline.
His right leg got tangled up and rolled in an uncomfortable way.
Brunson stayed down and was attended to by trainers during a timeout.
You can see the injury at this link.
Brunson appeared to get his right ankle caught up on the left leg of Pistons guard Dennis Schroder as both went for a loose ball.
When trainers attended to Brunson, he could be seen gesturing down toward the ankle area of his right foot in clear discomfort. At first when he went down, it looked like he may have grabbed at his knee, but then the signals to the trainers were further down his right leg.
Brunson departed with the trainers for the Knicks locker room. He returned to the game with 10:14 left in the fourth quarter, with the ESPN broadcast saying Brunson "got his ankle re-taped."
The Pistons got an easy transition bucket after Brunson's injury to go up 65-61 with 2:52 left in the third quarter.
